My necklace arrived!

I ordered a necklace a few weeks ago to replace the one R gave me right after D was born. It was really cute – he actually got matching ones for me and D, so she can wear hers when she gets older. The one he gave me is a 4 leaf clover with a tiny little diamond in the middle, where the leaves of the clover are peridots, since that’s D’s birthstone. I absolutely love it, but the original chain broke months ago, and the one with which I replaced it has gotten all stretched out from daily wear and D tugging on it so that it’s now much longer than I like. Why not just get a new chain again? Because I found an awesome necklace that I’m very excited about and I have deemed as a suitable replacement. I told R I felt kind of guilty not wearing the one he got me when I first took it off, and he said I was being silly. He said it’s a good thing that I finally took it off to wear others since I have so many nicer necklaces than that one, and he liked the new one I ordered as well. Ok good; I definitely didn’t want him to think I didn’t like my original D one because it was the sweetest gesture ever from a new daddy and that little necklace will always be special to me. I’m just weird and sentimental like that.

Ok, ok, get on with it – the new necklace, please… I found it on The Vintage Pearl (button over there —->), and it is wonderful. They do amazing work, and I’ve seen their pieces showcased on other blogs and in the press. My sister-in-law actually ordered R’s mom a grandmother’s bracelet from them for Mother’s Day this year. It turned out beautifully – it has a charm with each of the grandkids’ names on it, all in different shapes, and a birthstone crystal for each. So I knew their products were high-quality. If you go to their site, I ordered a “dainty names” necklace, and then customized it to have the name stamped around the edge of the circle instead of across the middle. Et voila!

First of all, their packaging is adorable

I just love it. I chose an 18″ sterling ball chain to go with it, but I think I may order a 16″ too to see which one I like better. I kind of like the shorter look and feel. But overall – it’s fantastic! D’s name looks like it was just meant to be on this perfect little charm around my neck. And I’m a big fan of the silver colors over golds. Almost all of my jewelry is white gold, so I much prefer that hue over yellow gold (this necklace is silver though, not gold).

Check out tvp – you won’t be disappointed!

Wait, what??

I wasn’t lying when I said I have some of the craziest dreams ever dreamed. And lately, a lot of them have been the kind where you’re so relieved they were only dreams when you wake up that you practically jump out of bed just to make sure.

Case in point, this morning:  I dreamed I was watching some sort of demonic horror movie (why? who knows), when it suddenly poured out from the TV into our living room. A priest, or some other holy man of the cloth, was stabbing at a covered cave-like structure that was growing out of our coffee table. Turns out, as soon as his walking stick-turned-spear burst through the covering on said cave, the utmost wrath from the depths of Hell was going to spew into our house. Fantastic, a party! Remember the movie The Gate? A similar gaping fiery hole was preparing to swallow me up. But the terrifying part was that our sweet baby girl (I’ll call her D from here on out for simplicity) was napping on the coffee table right above where all this was taking place!! Our beautiful angel was snoozing away on the brink of Hades, utterly oblivious to the surrounding chaos. WTF?! I really hope it wasn’t a sign that little D will have to encounter a massive struggle between good and evil in her life. Ugh. Then again, why was she napping on a coffee table when she could so easily roll right off and crack her head on those jagged rocks leading into Hell? Bad mommy.

Good lord, no more ice cream before bed.

Anyone else’s dreams verge on the insane, or am I just a lucky one?

And who might you be?

I’m so glad you asked! I figured as the newbie blogger on the block, I’d better introduce myself a bit. Let’s see, where should I begin…

I’m a Midwestern girl who’s done the brights lights and big city of NYC and has come back to her roots to settle down and start a family. I have an amazingly wonderful husband, a beautiful baby girl, a family that loves me no matter what, and the best group of friends ever. I’m now a Badger for life, and I love, love, love to have fun. Laughter is my favorite medicine.

I want to get back into fighting shape after having my first baby and might attempt a half marathon this summer in order to do so. Am I crazy? Maybe.

Being a mom is more incredible than I ever dreamed possible, and I am surprisingly loving every second of it. That amazing husband mentioned above and I both work full-time, so I have had to come to terms with the guilt of sending baby girl to daycare. So far, so good, but I would love nothing more than to be able to someday leave the corporate world and be either a stay-at-home or work-at-home mommy. That little girl has opened my eyes to this world in a whole new indescribable way, and I can’t thank her enough for that.

I am stubborn and sarcastic, but my sensitive and caring side has come to the forefront much more often since August 1, 2010. I have some of the most random thoughts of any person I know, and my dreams are vivid and bizarre enough to give even the most experienced dream whisperer fits. I love making people laugh, so hopefully I can throw some giggles your way.

So there’s a glimpse into the life of ScooterMarie. Stick around to learn more and see what happens next.

Well hello there…

My very first blog entry, and on the first day of a new month to boot. How fitting. I’ve always wondered how successful I would be if I ever started one of these. Would anyone find it and follow me? Would anyone care what I have to say? Do I even have anything to say? I guess we’ll find out…

Thank you for taking a peek and entering the world of ScooterMarie. Hopefully I turn out to be devastatingly charming and witty with an endless supply of wonderfully interesting conversation topics. If not, well hey, I gave it a shot, and maybe I’ll at least make you laugh a few times along the way. I don’t know yet if I’m an A+ blogger, but as someone just told me, “I’m definitely something.” 🙂
