Happy Halloween!

So yesterday was the assigned day for trick-or-treating in our neighborhood. Does anyone else have this? Designated times and days for trick-or-treating? Personally, I think it’s dumb. I mean I know they do it for safety and stuff like that, but really? It kind of takes the fun out of the holiday. When we were younger you always went trick-or-treating on Halloween night, no matter what day of the week it was, after dinner, with your parent who waited on the sidewalk while you went up to every door you could manage before your feet got too tired or your pumpkin got too full of candy or that parent who was so patiently tagging along decided it was time to go home. Now for us it’s always the Sunday before Halloween, or if Halloween happens to be on a Sunday then I guess we luck out.

And what really stinks about having trick-or-treating this way is that you always get inundated with people who bring in carloads of kids from all different areas of the city to simply clean up on getting all the candy they can, every day they can. That’s not fair. You don’t live here, I’ve never seen you before, and you’re neither wearing a costume nor bothering to say “trick-or-treat”! That’s the part that really annoys me.

But anyway… Yesterday was D’s first time trick-or-treating, and it was so much fun! Last year she was still just a wee lass and sat on Daddy’s knee to help pass out candy as a little moo-cow. This year, however, she was big enough to walk around to a handful of our neighbors’ houses with Daddy and get her own candy in her little orange pumpkin. She was Little Red Riding Hood, and Daddy was her Big Bad Wolf. Love!!

Friday morning - I was a ladybug for trick-or-treating at daycare!
Cutest ladybug ever!
1 of 3 ladybugs that morning (but still the cutest!)
Getting ready to head out yesterday
I'm Little Red Riding Hood!
Waiting with Mommy
Look, Daddy, an airplane!
Going up to my first house
Action shot - it was breezy
Time to help pass out candy with Daddy
Digging into the loot
Trick-or-treat!

Happy Halloween!!

  1. Absolutely adorable pictures of your little girl. Her lady bug costume reminds me of a costume my sister wore when we were kids. It was the exact same look only orange (she was a pumpkin). Good memories 🙂

We’re pumped to have you giving Livefyre a shot. Let us know if you have any questions, I’ll make sure you’re well taken care of.

P.S. The neighborhood you were trick-or-treating in looks like the one from the movie Hocus Pocus and that is AWESOME.

    1. Thanks! I do have one question – you see how the left side of the Livefyre comment area appears to hang into the left margin a little? How can I fix that? Or is it supposed to be that way?

      1. @_ScooterMarie Ah! The easiest way is to open up your WP-Admin Panel, navigate to “Appearance” then “Editor.” Then, open up the style.css template (usually the default one that’s opened) and drop this bit of CSS into the template somewhere towards the top right after a “”:

        #livefyre {padding-left:15px !important;}

That should line it up perfectly for ya! Let me know if you need any assistance with that or if you have any other questions, happy to help!

        1. @JMattHicks Hmm, it doesn’t seem to be working. There aren’t any ‘s in my main style.css template, so I tried adding that code after a in my index loop template, but it still doesn’t seem to have fixed it. Am I entering the code in the wrong place?

        2. @JMattHicks So now I simply added a and the code in my style.css template instead of putting it in the loop, and it still doesn’t look like it’s working. Any ideas?

        3. @_ScooterMarie Hey Marie,

Hmm, that’s pretty strange. Would you mind providing our dev team and I temporary access to your WP-Admin panel to take a look and fix it for you? We won’t touch anything not 100% necessary for the desired functioning of Livefyre, and when you’re done, you can delete that temporary account.

If you’d like, just send credentials to support@livefyre.com and we’ll take care of that for ya. Otherwise, I’ll grab an engineer and we can try and find a way around it without!

          Thanks Marie!

          1. Ok, I just created a new user with your username, and emailed the password to that email address above from my site. I gave you admin rights, so please let me know when you are finished tweaking the livefyre settings and I’ll delete that user. Thanks for your help!

  2. I got it for worked out for ya 🙂 I think my instructions, on a “terrible” scale of 1-10, were probably a solid 8. So, my apologies for that. But you’re widget is good to go!
